And it\u2019s likely to increase to 361.6 billion by 2024. Not surprising then, emails continue to be a company\u2019s number one touch point with customers and prospects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exactly in this fact \u2013 in the sheer number of emails a consumer receives in a day \u2013 lies the criticality to make an email stand out. Good copy is an absolute must. Use of relevant images is expected. Which means, within the first 3 seconds of peering at your email, the reader will decide whether or not to invest any more time on it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s look at what\u2019s exactly happening in those 3 seconds. Their eyes fall on the body of the email. Visuals coupled with a few words they glance through send an instant message to their analysing brain. In that limited time, the brain tries to do 3 things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. validate <em>relevance<\/em> to their needs&nbsp;<br>2. validate <em>authenticity<\/em><br>3. <em>make sense<\/em> of the message<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Good email design, then, works with the clear goal to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; address EACH of these cognitive needs QUICKLY<br>&#8211; ensure that readers decide <em>in<\/em> <em>favour<\/em> of spending more time on your objet d\u2019art<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because when they do spend more time, they <em>read<\/em> your perfect copy, <em>understand<\/em> your unique value proposition, and <em>respond<\/em> to your CTA. Eventually, then, whether or not they act in favour of your CTA is a matter a free will! There\u2019s comfort in knowing that they are taking an informed decision \u2013 thanks to your email design.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f2f2\"><strong>The goal of every email marketing campaign is to make this journey of 3 seconds to 3 minutes (or more) effortless and value-adding for the subscriber. But you MUST ensure that the sender name displays a real name &#8211; company\u2019s or employee\u2019s \u2013 not an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.sendinblue.com\/are-emails-case-sensitive\/\">email address.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f2f2\"><strong>Including a person\u2019s name is a good idea if that person has an updated and a strong social media presence.<\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"122\" height=\"132\" class=\"wp-image-2942\" style=\"width: 50px; float: right;\" src=\"https:\/\/ctc-digital.com\/ctc2022\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/1logo.png\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Use segmentations for different types of emails. For example.&nbsp; \u201cOrders at Company\u201d&nbsp;for transactional emails; \u201cJohn from Company\u201d for newsletter; and \u201cSale at Company\u201d for special offers.&nbsp; Just ensure you stay consistent to help your subscribers categorize them. Consider playing around with the options below. Your readers will spend less than a second here. It\u2019s a rather popular&nbsp;trend as many email clients like Gmail,&nbsp;Outlook, and the iOS mail app&nbsp;allow you to show snippet or preview text.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To truly leverage this feature, consider these practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; include a pre-header text. Leaving it out may mean you allow email clients to clutter it with unrequired content compromising your screen space<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; don\u2019t simply repeat the subject line, write relevant text<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; limit text up to 85-100 characters<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; craft them such that they stand out and pique reader interest \u2013 for example add a short summary at the very top of the email design<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; make the subject line and pre-header work together. For example, by using the question-answer technique. Subject line in question format and answer in the pre-header.
